Why California families use living trusts
About $23,000
That's the statutory attorney fee for probating a $1,000,000 estate in California, and the executor is entitled to the same amount again (Probate Code sections 10800 and 10810), before court costs. The fees are based on the estate's gross value, before any mortgage is subtracted.

Questions
Common questions
Straight answers to what families ask first. Have your own? Book a consultation.
What's the difference between a will and a living trust?
A will says who receives your property and who would care for your minor children, but it generally has to go through probate court. A funded living trust lets the person you choose manage and pass on your assets without probate, and it stays private.
What happens if I die without a will in California?
California law decides who inherits, and a court may need to appoint someone to handle your estate. If you have minor children and haven't named a guardian, a judge may decide who raises them.

Can we meet by phone or video?
[How and where you meet clients]
What should I bring to my consultation?
A rough list of what you own, such as your home, retirement and bank accounts and life insurance, any existing will or trust, and the names of the people you'd like to involve as guardians, trustees or beneficiaries. [Anything else your firm asks clients to bring]
